What is a Copier?

The copier has been around since 1959 when Xerox introduced it to the world. Basically speaking, the copier is a machine that makes paper copies of an existing paper that has an image or other graphics.. The technology behind a copier is known as xerography. This technology utilizes a photoreceptor used to lay paper toner. Then heat and pressure are used to press against the paper to have an image formed.

The Black and White Copier

Also known as the mono copier, this type uses a single black toner. The monochrome copier has many capacities available. Their main use is mostly found within an office setting and that there is no need for color.

Color Copier

A color copier is able to create copies consisting of color images and black and white images. They usually consist of four drums and four color toner cartridges consisting of black, yellow, cyan, and magenta. When these colors mix, they are able to produce the necessary color schemes. Copiers that are color will normally be used for multiple purposes within the office setting.

The Network Copier

The network copier is used in an office setting that utilizes printing on a remote basis and includes PC faxing and scanning. The majority of these copiers will also have a network card that is built-in or comes separate. It will normally be connected to the office network so that printing can be wirelessly performed.

The All-In-One Copier

These copiers allow the user to conduct an increased amount of functions at once. Many of the newer models will include access to the internet. Also, there can be connections to many portable devices through the use of a USB on a laptop. The copier can even have a function for finishing a document. Having an all-in-one copier allows you to conduct a multitude of jobs , besides printing and copying, such as printing manuals, handbooks, and booklets.

The Desktop Copier

The copier for desktop use is designed for paper size that is no larger than A4. These copiers are space-saving so sitting on the desk is no problem. Their job is to perform tasks similar to a multifunctional but are unable to use any A3 size due to the large and heavy characteristics, which would not allow a desk to accommodate it.

The Wide-Format Copier

When you use a wide-format copier, it takes a while before the copies begin to appear professional. In order to obtain the professional quality, it implements an ejection of ink droplets. These copiers are used often in a business setting designed for print and graphics to be instilled into a document, such as seen within a school, marketing, or advertising.
