- His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has today, through his Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), launched the Terra Carta Seal, which recognizes private sector companies who are leading their peers in creating genuinely sustainable markets.
- Xerox is one of the companies that has been awarded the Terra Carta Seal.
- Designed by Sir Jony Ive, the Terra Carta Seal embodies the vision and ambition of the Terra Carta, a recovery plan for Nature, People and Planet.
Xerox Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: XRX) announced today it has been awarded the Terra Carta Seal. The inaugural 2021 Terra Carta Seal recognizes global companies that are driving innovation and demonstrating their commitment to creating genuinely sustainable markets and aligning with the ambitions of the Terra Carta recovery plan for Nature, People and Planet, which launched in January 2021.
“The Terra Carta Seal recognizes those organizations which have made a serious commitment to a future that is much more sustainable, and puts Nature, People and the Planet at the heart of the economy. We all need to make changes if we are to preserve the planet for our children and grandchildren and these businesses have pledged to make it easier for us all to do so,” said His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.
The Terra Carta Seal has been awarded to companies who hold a leadership position within their industry and who have credible transition roadmaps underpinned by globally recognized, scientific metrics for achieving net zero by 2050 or earlier.
“We would like to thank His Royal Highness for spearheading the inaugural Terra Carta Seal launch, and we are honored to receive this recognition. At Xerox, we have long believed businesses, like ours, play a critical role in protecting the health of the planet while creating a brighter future for all. With a roadmap for achieving net zero by 2040, our commitments exceed the requirements of the Terra Carta. We are proud to lead the way in driving sustainable innovation. In doing so, we are helping solve some of the world’s biggest challenges,” said John Visentin, Vice Chairman and CEO, Xerox.
With climate change being one of today’s defining issues, Xerox this year fast-tracked its net zero goal by 10 years to 2040, as noted in its 2021 Corporate Social Responsibility Report. The report marks the first time Xerox published its roadmap to net zero. The roadmap particularly focuses on improving processes and energy efficiency, as well as designing environmentally responsible products and clean technologies. Xerox prepared the 2021 CSR report according to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

erox partners with the United Nations to deliver print technology services with eco-label certified devices for the COP26 conference
New contract will enable the United Nations & DEFRA e-Alliance to minimize carbon footprints and support the circular economy
The United Nations has selected Xerox to provide devices certified to meet internationally recognized security and product sustainability standards and onsite support to the COP26 conference, taking place in Glasgow, 31 Oct – 12 Nov 2021.
Xerox are supporting the UN's essential print and copying services across the full conference campus, supporting all function events and country delegations from around the world. Xerox will also supply a team of onsite engineering support staff, from Glasgow and the surrounding areas.
Most of the devices to be used at the conference have been remanufactured near Glasgow at Concept, a Xerox Business Solutions company, in Clydebank, which was recently awarded the BSI kitemark BS 8887-220:2010. The devices have earned Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), Blue Angel and ENERGY STAR ecolabels and have been validated by The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change for their security and functionality.
To realise the ambition of providing print technology with sustainability benefits to the conference, Xerox will use proactive alerts for devices to enable optimum uptime through the event. Devices will be configured to reduce power consumption through energy saving settings including defaulting to double-sided printing and reduced toner consumption in draft print mode to deliver the lowest carbon footprint.
“Xerox has a proven legacy in supporting similar scale events throughout the UK, including the London Olympics in 2012 and most recently the European Championships in Glasgow in 2018, so we are delighted to be an official partner for COP26. Our appointment is a testament to our commitment to fighting climate change, whilst helping to make a positive difference on one of the world’s most pressing issues,” stated Darren Cassidy, Managing Director, Xerox UK&I.
To further the sustainability credentials of all printing onsite, Xerox will provide FSC certified paper having 100% Post-Consumer recycled content. All used paper and spent toner cartridges will be recycled through an Eco-Box and Xerox’s Green World Alliance Program, and printed pages will additionally be off-set by the PrintReleaf Reforestation Program – which sees Xerox plant a tree in a managed forest for every 8,333 pages of print.
After the event, Xerox will also be working with Glasgow City Council and Procurement Scotland to agree to processes for the donation of devices used, with a proportion already allocated to local charities and schools.
In addition to COP26, Xerox will support the DEFRA e-alliance Tech for Climate Change event at the Glasgow Hilton 1st-5th November where Darren Cassidy, Managing Director of UK & Ireland for Xerox, will participate in the CEO Panel event about Xerox’s journey to net zero by 2040.
